Jaybrake, an ISO 9001:2008 and TUV certified company, is a leader in the manufacturing of performance motorcycle parts and accessories directed towards the American V-twin market. Brake calipers, forward foot controls, handlebar controls, foot pegs, grips, switch housing and other handlebar accessories are just some of the billet aluminum components Jaybrake is known for.
Established in 1981 by Jay Brainard, the company has grown from a one man operation in a garage on the family farm to part of an 82,000 square foot state of the art facility. Living by the two slogans of “made in the USA” and “we make it” is truly what makes Jaybrake a company with small hometown values and pride of craftsmanship. “ Made in the USA”….. enough said. It is a term that should not be taken lightly and should not just be used without merit. “We make it” basically means that all of our products are machined by us in our machine shop in Springville, New York. It sounds simple, but it means so much to us, our employees and their families that depend on them.
After 20+ years of ownership and the responsibility of running all aspects of the company, Jay began to want to get back to what made him start the company in the first place. Riding and designing new products began to take the back seat to managing his company, but that was about to change. In 2005, Jay approached Horschel Brothers Precision to inform Karl and Louis that he was thinking of stepping away from ownership to get back to what he loved most. Machining products for Jay for over 12 years and motorcyclists themselves for many years, Karl and Louis decided to purchase the company. Jay is now a key player in design development, assembly and the organization of HBP-Jaybrake.
Karl Horschel takes a hands-on approach to ownership. From working on lathes and mills designing prototypes to installing products on customer’s bikes at rallies, Karl knows hard work is the key to success. Karl is one of six brothers and like Jay grew up on a family farm where good work ethic and dedication were instilled in him by his father. At Jaybrake, as well as with the other Horschel Companies, this work ethic and dedication has been carried over to everyday business with Karl and his employees.
